Application Sales Engineer - Power Switching & Monitoring
Purpose of the position:
- Propose technical solutions to address specific customer needs.
- Work with colleagues in the tender team to produce quotations and documents for our metering and switchgear product range.
- Assist customers and the UK Sales team by providing technical support on large projects.
- Visit key customers for training, product updates and project meetings.
- Visit project sites for commissioning, training and hand-over.
Key elements:
- Produce quotations and tender documents for our Power Switching & Monitoring product ranges.
- Attend pre and post tender meetings as our representative.
- Attend pre-delivery project meetings as our representative.
- Attend post-delivery project sites for commissioning, training and hand-over.
General Support:
- Utilise corporate tools (CRM, Support Line) to maintain technical support service levels.
- Attend customer sites as an expert in fault finding, commissioning and supporting CIM team.
- Provide internal and external training for key stakeholders (sales team, CIM, system integrators, large customers).
- Develop our range of integrated products.
Additional responsibilities:
- Specification and promotion with end users and consultants.
- Generate new business opportunities and prepare & follow up quotations.
- Work with national sales manager to deliver area commercial action plans.
- Development & support of target markets (water industry, systems integrators).
- Provide constructive feedback on customer technical requirements.
- Additional tasks as required in line with department/company strategic goals.
Key internal and external interfaces:
- External: panel builders, distributors, systems integrators, OEMs, end users, regional consultants.
- UK sales teams (principally PSM, although liaison with CP/CIM teams on large projects is important).
- BA Applications Developers, Key Account Managers, Service Group (SAT or CIM), Regional and Local Management Team.
Key performance indicators:
- Sales Target - Direct Sales within target portfolio of clients of £1.5M.
- New account target file – maintain 6 live new customers under focus.
- 225 annual visits to customers.
Education and background:
- Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or HND in electrical engineering.
Skills:
- Good computing skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Excellent time management and presentation skills.
