Area Sales Engineer (Factory Automation) - North East UK - £45-55K Basic
Sales Execution
- Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective territory and account planning.
- Build and maintain a 12–24 month pipeline of qualified opportunities, particularly complex factory automation and vision-based projects.
- Lead commercial negotiations and close deals in line with agreed terms.
Customer Engagement & Technical Support
- Deliver product demonstrations across machine vision systems, industrial imaging, identification solutions, and factory automation technologies.
- Evaluate customer applications and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Provide post-sale support including basic system configuration and integration guidance.
- Work closely with system integrators and partners to win strategic opportunities.
Account & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with internal technical and commercial teams to support key customer accounts.
- Coordinate application reviews and feasibility assessments with engineering specialists.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.
- Utilise CRM tools to track activity, manage opportunities, and capture market intelligence.
Collaboration & Market Insight
- Engage with internal technical support and training teams to enhance the customer journey.
- Provide feedback on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging applications in machine vision and factory automation.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), ideally in engineering, science, or business.
- 3+ years’ experience in technical sales within machine vision, factory automation, industrial imaging, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage complex, solution-based sales cycles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with integrators, OEMs, or industrial end-users is advantageous.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a field-based role.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Full driving licence.
