We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager to lead and develop sales across the Midlands region. This is a proactive field sales role focused on both acquiring new business and growing existing accounts within the industrial automation market.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue and margin targets.
- Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with OEMs, system integrators, end users, and contractors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers (engineering, technical, and procurement).
- Provide technical and commercial support to customers, working closely with internal application engineers.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts to maximise share of wallet.
- Prepare and present compelling proposals, quotations, and tender responses.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities in automation.
- Accurately forecast sales and maintain a healthy pipeline using CRM tools.
- Attend industry events, exhibitions, and networking functions as required.
- Essential: Proven track record in technical field sales within industrial automation, motion control, drives, robotics, or closely related industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of automation technologies (servo drives, PLCs, motion systems, robotics, etc.).
- Experience selling to manufacturing companies, OEMs, and system integrators.
- Self-motivated with excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Desirable: Existing network of contacts in the Midlands manufacturing and automation market.
- Background working with Siemens, or similar leading automation brands.
- Experience in food & beverage, packaging, automotive, or general manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce or similar).
