We are seeking a Solution Design Engineer with experience in automated warehouse and intralogistics systems to support the design and delivery of complex material handling projects. The role involves developing integrated automation solutions that combine conveyor systems, robotics, controls, and warehouse technologies to meet customer operational and performance requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with sales, project delivery, controls, mechanical engineering, and operations teams to create scalable, cost-effective, and innovative warehouse automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design automated warehouse and material handling solutions including conveyor systems, robotic cells, sortation, pallet handling, and automated storage solutions.
- Develop system layouts, functional specifications, flow diagrams, and concept designs.
- Analyse customer operational data, throughput requirements, and warehouse processes to create optimised automation solutions.
- Support proposal development including technical documentation, cost estimates, equipment selection, and presentation materials.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineering teams during project execution.
- Participate in customer meetings, site surveys, and technical workshops.
- Ensure solutions comply with safety, operational, and performance standards.
- Support commissioning and system validation activities where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation of design methodologies.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience designing automated warehouse or material handling systems.
- Strong understanding of conveyors, robotics, pallet handling, sortation, and warehouse automation technologies.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience producing technical layouts and engineering documentation using CAD tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret operational data and develop throughput calculations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project environments.
- Experience with warehouse simulation or modelling tools.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS).
