Wyman-Gordon is a world leading manufacturer of Nickel, Titanium and Steel alloy forgings for the aerospace, defence and energy sectors. Part of the major American corporation, PCC, we are a global manufacturer of complex metal components and supply products worldwide to our prestigious blue-chip customers.
An opportunity has arisen for a Forge Team Worker to join our Operations team based in Lincoln, working on a 3 shift basis. This position is responsible for assisting with the safe forging of our products in line with all specifications to ensure we meet quality standards. Specifically this will include:
- Adherence to all safety and quality processes and procedures.
- Ensure that high standards of health, safety and housekeeping are consistently met.
- To assist in the forging of parts as per the forge instruction sheet by:
- Completing records and monitoring of process parameters before and during forging.
- Planning the running order to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved.
- Ensuring the Forge Instruction Sheet is diligently followed to include soak times, temperatures and hammer process, thus ensuring product integrity.
- Validating the sequence of numbers allocated to each part.
- Setting the pace for the running order, ensuring the furnaces are balanced as effectively as possible.
Ideally candidates should be experienced FLT drivers with previous working knowledge of pendant crane operation, confined spaces and abrasive wheels. It is essential that candidates have prior experience of working in a heavy industrial or engineering environment. Candidates should also have a flexible working attitude towards their duties and hours they are prepared to work. They should also be adaptable, reliable and have excellent communication skills. In addition they should be able to work well as part of a team, possess a strong attention to detail, and have both a quality and safety focused attitude.
