We are seeking to appoint a motivated, positive, and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join our thriving Creative Learning Area, which includes Music, Art, Performing Arts, and Music Technology. The successful candidate will join a thriving, growing music department where they will teach KS3 Music, with opportunities to contribute to the GCSE and A Level Music provision. You will be able to inspire and challenge students of all different abilities in Music and will play a strong role in promoting Music as a subject and as a lifelong activity.

We welcome applications from ambitious, resourceful individuals at all stages of their career, who have the drive, passion, and vision to contribute to all aspects of the department's curricular and extracurricular work. This will be a temporary full-time role from September to December when a permanent staff member begins their role.

Music at Wyedean

Wyedean's Music Department is part of the Creative Subjects Learning Area and has a music suite housed in the Performing Arts building. Accommodation benefits from a recording studio, adjoining practice rooms, and a creative hub for use with KS4 and KS5 students. We also have access to the on-site Chepstow Community Music Centre that houses five fully resourced practice rooms, a larger rehearsal room and a second recording studio. Our specialist teaching area is fully equipped with iMac computers and MIDI keyboards, allowing students across the key stages, access to GarageBand, Logic Pro and MuseScore software, in addition to a variety of acoustic instruments.

We currently run courses in Music GCSE (OCR) and Music A level (AQA) and contribute to the Level 1/2 Vocational Performing Arts (Eduqas) course at KS4, level 3 BTEC Performing Arts at KS5. We successfully introduced A level Music Technology in the department in September 2025. The Department works in conjunction with the Chepstow Community Music Centre which has a visiting peripatetic staff who teach a wide variety of instrumental lessons. Sixth form music and performing arts students have access to the practice rooms throughout the school day. The recording studio allows students to produce recordings for GCSE and A level coursework and extra-curricular ensembles.
