The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 Β£ per year.
A well-balanced team-working pattern has been developed to maximise the capacity of the in-patient and out-patient service and the Endoscopy department. The in-patient ward work is shared by the Consultant Team on a rotational basis 7 days per week (1:8). We are a progressive department and welcome innovative developments.
There are well established and collaborative links with Upper GI / HPB surgery (Gloucester / UHB-QE) and Colorectal surgery with both upper and lower GI multi-disciplinary team meetings occurring weekly. In addition, Departmental Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Hepatology MDTs are also well established.
Other specialty interests include diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, bowel cancer screening (including Bowel Scope), viral hepatitis (with links to the West Midlands Viral Hepatitis MDT), inflammatory bowel disease, GI physiology (including state-of-the-art High Resolution Impedence Oesophageal Manometry and pH Impedance studies) and capsule endoscopy.
We operate out of modern spacious outpatient department and have expanded to run peripheral clinics out of Community Hospitals in the market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Leominster.
Please be aware that this is a fixed term post for 12 months only. The successful candidate will be expected to start on 6th August 2025 and remain in post until 03 February 2026.

Main duties of the job
1. Inpatients β Care of Gastroenterology In-patients & providing advice to inpatients in other areas with support of the Gastroenterology ward consultant, alongside Gastroenterology Speciality Registrars.
2. Outpatients β The successful candidate will deliver general Gastroenterology and Hepatology care with the opportunity to develop sub-specialist interest with the support of the Consultants with links to Tertiary centre experience.
3. The successful candidate will be supported to continue to develop Endoscopy & other speciality procedures.
4. Maintaining a portfolio & logbook of procedures. The applicant will be supported towards achieving JAG accreditation in Colonoscopy & other endoscopic procedures.
5. Attendance at MDT meetings.
6. Participation in Mortality & Morbidity & Education & Audit meetings & case reviews.
The post holder will be supervised / mentored by the consultant team. They will participate in annual appraisal & will be provided with support & guidance for revalidation.
Secretarial support for out-patient activity will be provided by one of the existing medical secretaries in the department. The post holder will have access to a desk & computer.

You will be working on the on-call rota on a 1:18 basis. Your average weekly hours will be 45:15 , doing a mixture of on-calls and night shifts.
