This is a fantastic opportunity for health care support workers to develop a career in the NHS as a Health Care Support Worker at Wye Valley NHS Trust. We have a number of full time and part time opportunities across the Trust for applicants with or without previous health care experience, who are wanting to develop a career in health care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.
  • Provide a high standard of care by addressing patient personal hygiene, maintaining tissue integrity, and providing pressure area care.
  • Record observations and liaise with patients’ families and the general public; support colleagues to provide a positive patient experience across various settings.
  • Report concerns to the registered nurse relating to cleanliness, hazards and patient safety.
  • Ensure the registered nurse is regularly updated on patients’ condition and progress; ensure equipment is clean and in good working order; maintain a clean and tidy environment.
  • Participate in the induction of staff new to the clinical area and minimise hazards by reporting identifiable hazards to the line manager; adhere to safe systems of work.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to disseminate information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote awareness of child protection and adult protection issues and attend relevant training in accordance with policy.

Requirements and Skills

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to respond to different communication needs of patients. They will also work effectively as part of a team. High quality patient care should be at the forefront of your expertise.

Work Pattern

Shifts will include a mix of nights, early starts, evenings, weekends and bank holidays – we provide a 24/7 service.
