Wycliffe College are seeking an experienced safeguarding professional to act as the College’s lead for child protection as Head of Safeguarding. In this key role, the postholder will be responsible for leading and embedding a strong, whole-school culture of safeguarding across all areas of College life.

Working closely with the Deputy Head (Pastoral) and wider pastoral and Health Centre teams, the successful applicant will ensure that safeguarding practice is fully compliant with statutory requirements and consistently aligned with best practice. In addition, they will act as the College’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing expert guidance on child protection matters and ensuring effective systems are in place to identify, record, and respond to concerns, so that every pupil from Reception to Year 13 is safe, supported, and protected, and that all staff understand and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant safeguarding qualification or have equivalent experience, with an advanced safeguarding qualification and/or postgraduate qualification in safeguarding, social work, or child protection desirable. They will have significant experience managing safeguarding and child protection cases, working with external agencies, and supporting staff, with independent or boarding school experience and involvement in audits or inspections an advantage.

The successful applicant will also have strong knowledge of statutory safeguarding guidance (including KCSIE, Working Together, NMS and ISI frameworks), alongside excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
