Contract Type: Permanent. Job Base: Hybrid – approximately 2 days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Fund’s governance framework, ensuring full compliance with LGPS regulations and wider pensions legislation.
- Act as the key governance contact for Committees, Boards, scheme employers, advisers and regulatory bodies.
- Support Committee and Board operations, including agenda planning, report preparation, member training and annual effectiveness reviews.
- Oversee statutory governance functions including breach reporting, GDPR compliance, audit follow‑up and the Fund’s risk management arrangements.
- Manage governance‑related procurement activity and monitor performance of advisers and service providers.
- Contribute as a core member of the management team, providing expert pensions governance advice and supporting Fund‑wide strategic projects.
About You
- Extensive pensions technical knowledge, gained either working on private sector Defined Benefit or LGPS.
- Experience in committee governance, policy development, risk management and delivering governance improvements.
- Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a regulatory setting.
- A proactive, collaborative and influential professional able to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across the LGPS landscape.
