Our client, a well-established manufacturing organisation, is looking for a Production Engineer to join their team in Eastbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting production processes, driving continuous improvement, and assisting with new product introduction (NPI). You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance efficiency, resolve manufacturing issues, and ensure high‑quality standards are maintained. This is a hands‑on role with occasional travel to client sites for meetings and project support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and oversee manufacturing processes
- Lead and maintain 8D/RMA processes and root cause analysis activities
- Monitor production processes to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency
- Identify and troubleshoot production issues, implementing effective solutions
- Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications
- Analyse production performance and recommend improvements to cost, quality, and efficiency
- Liaise with engineering and production teams to optimise processes and workflows
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and best practices
- Create and review drawings, routes, and BOMs for production readiness
- Deliver training and guidance to production teams where required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business
- Participate in meetings with internal teams and stakeholders
- Identify unsafe practices and contribute to a safe working environment
Skills, Experience and Training Requirements
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role
- Experience using CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools (e.g., 8D)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Hands‑on experience assembling complex components (desirable)
- Good level of physical fitness and dexterity (role may be physically demanding)
- Degree or HNC in Engineering
