We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well‑established precision engineering organisation, for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team in Eastbourne. As an experienced CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for preparing detailed numerical control programs and operating advanced CNC machinery, including EDM equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring high‑quality production output while maintaining efficiency, safety and continuous improvement across the shop floor. This is a hands‑on role working with 3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis CNC machines in a fast‑paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and write CNC programs for numerically controlled machinery
- Set up and operate 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC machine tools
- Install and adjust workholding devices, tooling, spindle liners and bar feeders
- Operate EDM machines including programming, setup and operation
- Verify programs and settings using appropriate measuring equipment
- Carry out first‑article inspection and make necessary adjustments or program modifications
- Ensure components meet engineering drawings and quality standards
- Record daily machine operations and report OEE performance
- Carry out daily machine maintenance where required
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the work area
- Support continuous improvement activities within the department
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies at all times
Skills, Experience and Requirements
- Competent in CNC machining and manual machining processes
- Experience working with 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models
- Experience with EDM machines (desirable)
- Fanuc controls experience advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Good understanding of machining processes and tooling
