Job Description:

Caretaker / Maintenance Operative North London (multiple residential sites)

Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 12:30pm or 9:00am-1:00pm

The Opportunity:

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established property organisation seeking a reliable and hands-on Caretaker / Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day running of residential buildings. This is a varied, part-time role suited to someone proactive, practical, and confident working independently across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily visual inspections of buildings and report/resolve issues
  • General upkeep of outdoor areas including litter picking and car park sweeping
  • Seasonal duties such as leaf clearing
  • Monitor internal communal areas for cleanliness and maintenance needs
  • Manage bin stores and coordinate collections
  • Prepare properties for new occupancies
  • Respond to resident queries in a professional manner
  • Maintain regular communication with property management (Outlook/email required)
  • Carry out basic statutory checks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors)

Maintenance:

  • Perform general repairs within communal areas and residential units
  • Carry out minor plumbing and appliance repairs
  • Complete basic decorating and touch-ups as required

Cleaning (Ad Hoc):

  • Support with additional cleaning in high-traffic areas outside of scheduled services

About You:

  • Practical, hands-on and solution-focused
  • Previous experience in a similar caretaker/maintenance role preferred
  • Good communication skills and comfortable dealing with residents
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Basic IT skills (email/Outlook)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle essential
