A leading law firm is seeking a Lead Senior HR Advisor to play a pivotal role in delivering a high‑quality, commercially focused HR service across the business. This is a senior advisory and people‑leadership role, combining hands‑on HR delivery with oversight of HR Advisors and Assistants, and close partnership with HR Business Partners and senior stakeholders.

The role includes:

  • Leading and supervising a central team of HR Advisors and HR Assistants, providing coaching, mentoring, and guidance.
  • Delivering end‑to‑end HR advisory support across the employee lifecycle for designated client groups.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to managers on complex employee relations matters, including performance, absence, and investigations.
  • Overseeing HR workflow management, shared inboxes, SLAs, and process efficiency.
  • Supporting recruitment activity from role approval through onboarding, working closely with Talent Acquisition.
  • Drafting and amending job descriptions and leading job evaluation for new roles.
  • Preparing business cases for headcount approvals and intention‑to‑hire requests.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment law, regulatory obligations, and internal HR policies.
  • Using HR data and metrics to provide insight, reporting, and decision‑making support.
  • Contributing to firmwide people initiatives, including DE&I, wellbeing, reward, and performance management.
  • Leading and coordinating HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About you:

  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Senior HR Advisor, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Confident managing and developing HR team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Comfortable advising on sensitive and complex people matters.
  • Highly organised, detail‑driven, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Proficient with HR systems and Microsoft Office.
