Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is growing and changing. We provide specialist mental health, learning disability and community services across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, and we’re hiring people who want to shape what comes next.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Older Adult Mental Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary setting, supporting older adults with complex mental health needs, including dementia, depression, delirium, and other cognitive or functional impairments. You will play a key role in promoting independence, mobility, and quality of life through holistic physiotherapy assessment and intervention.

The role involves working across inpatient wards, delivering person‑centred care tailored to the physical and psychological needs of this population. As a Band 6 clinician, you will be expected to manage a varied caseload, demonstrate clinical reasoning, and contribute to service development. We are looking for a senior Physiotherapist who can work autonomously and flexibly to meet service demands. The role also includes responsibility to support and supervise junior staff, students, and therapy assistants.

Main duties of the job:

  • Deliver comprehensive physiotherapy assessments, including mobility, balance, falls risk, and functional ability
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to optimise independence and reduce deconditioning
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including nurses, occupational therapists, and medical staff
  • Support safe discharge planning and rehabilitation pathways
  • Provide education and training to patients, carers, and staff
  • Supervise junior staff, assistants, and students
  • Contribute to clinical audits, service improvement, and evidence‑based practice

Person specification:

  • Physiotherapy experience and competencies
  • Evidence of experience or understanding of key specialities: orthopaedics, neurology, musculoskeletal and mental health settings
  • Experience of management or supervision responsibilities for junior staff and students
  • Physiotherapy degree
  • Understanding of mental health conditions that may present within the role
  • Experience, training in or understanding of a mental health physiotherapy
  • Experience of working with the older adult population in rehabilitation, including falls prevention, mobility rehabilitation
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Evidence of involvement with service development, audits and research
