Walsall Manor Hospital is a busy district general hospital offering a complete range of acute services. The Trust primarily serves the immediate population of Walsall with some patients requiring more specialised treatment at other, neighbouring Trusts. Main duties of the job

  • Support the setup, coordination, and delivery of clinical research studies
  • Recruit and consent participants, ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance
  • Collect and manage high-quality data in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Act as a key liaison between patients, clinicians, and research staff

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in a clinical or research setting

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse/midwife with current NMC registration
  • ICH GCP trained
  • Specialist nursing qualification or documented training

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a qualified registered nurse within an NHS or care setting
  • Aware of health & safety
  • Experience of working in a research environment
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Teaching, coaching and mentoring
  • Competent with clinical skills such as phlebotomy, clinical observations and ECG recording
  • Proficient in using the EDGE portfolio management system
  • Able to conduct informed consent discussions with patients
  • Competent in taking a study through set up from a clinical perspective
  • Fluent in the use of the NIHR feasibility portal, and actively engages with clinicians to submit Expression of Interests
  • Can accurately record prompt data entry and query resolution using a range of study databases including: RedCap, Veeva, Medidata, Inform
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify study protocol requirements and schedule of events and can ensure patients are followed up appropriately
  • Able to perform laboratory sample processing, including centrifugation, aliquoting and shipment packaging

  • Assist in the management of patients and the service to ensure clinical effectiveness
  • Supports clinical governance in relation to R&D throughout the Trust
