Fundraising Assistant in Truro

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity supports exceptional patient care across the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust by funding projects, equipment and initiatives beyond standard NHS provision. As a Fundraising Assistant, you will be a valued member of our small, friendly team, providing essential administrative and supporter-care support across all areas of charity activity. This varied and rewarding role is ideal for someone organised, personable and enthusiastic about helping others.

As the first point of contact for enquiries, you will often be the first friendly voice our supporters hear, ensuring every donor, fundraiser and colleague receives a warm, professional and timely response. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate donor records, supporting the administration of charitable income, preparing fundraising resources, assisting at events and helping colleagues deliver high-quality fundraising activity across the Trust and wider community. You will also help strengthen donor stewardship, ensuring supporters feel valued and appreciated.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage a busy and changing workload. You’ll work closely with colleagues, Trust staff, volunteers and the public, contributing to the smooth running of the office and the continued growth of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Main duties of the job

• Support the smooth and welcoming operation of the Fundraising Office.
• Act as a warm, professional first point of contact for supporters, staff and community fundraisers.
• Provide clear information, resolve queries where possible and signpost when needed.
• Carry out accurate, timely administrative tasks to support daily office operations.
• Maintain organised digital and physical records and filing systems.
• Assist with fundraising activities by preparing materials, resources and supporter information.
• Work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues.
• Manage workload effectively with strong organisation and attention to detail.

Person specification

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade A-C.
• Previous experience working in an administration role.
• Experience within a charity environment.
• Competent and proficient in using Microsoft Office Packages of software.
• Friendly and courteous disposition with a ‘can do’ attitude.
