We are looking for a highly self-motivated specialist nurses/extended scope physiotherapist to join the established team of Triage and Treat Practitioners, facilitating care for patients with back and /or radicular pain.

The Triage and Treat Practitioner Team provide a single access point leading to a high quality service to patients suffering with back pain and radicular pain. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

Main duties of the job

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

Qualifications

  • Current valid registration with relevant professional body i.e HCPC, NMC
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy/ Nursing, specialist training to masters level
  • Portfolio demonstrating continued professional development and ongoing assessments
  • Will work towards and complete any appropriate credential routes which are available and applicable to the clinical area
  • MSc in advanced Clinical Practice/Royal college credentialed/ HEE accredited ACP
  • Completed portfolio of professional development which evidences an advanced level of clinical practice in line with HEE (2017) framework for ACP

Experience

  • Extensive post registration experience working at a senior level within speciality area.
  • Experience of leading in a team
  • Experience in managing change
  • Experience teaching formal programmes or courses to patients and/or other staff.
  • Experience leading and presenting Audit/research
  • Experience of student and junior supervision
  • Experience in delivering CBT programmes.
  • Experience in providing counselling to patient and to support staff

Knowledge and skills

  • Professional knowledge acquired through a professional qualification which enables registration with a health care regulating body.
  • Supplemented by significant post-registration experience and specialist knowledge of the clinical area.
  • Management skills gained through theory and / or significant practice experience
  • IT literate
  • Knows the South Tees’ values and works within them
  • Good understanding of the trust ACP strategy and policy
  • Ability to autonomously problem solve, analyse, compare, and interpret complex information before making a decision
  • Has physical skills to ensure accuracy and dexterity required for clinical procedures
  • Mentoring and developing staff
  • Has led research and implemented service change/improvement
  • Additional teaching qualification/ experience
