Job overview: Are you interested in a career in Pharmacy? Are you innovative and forward thinking? This may be the position you’re looking for. We are looking for someone to become a member of our Dispensary Team, where you will provide support in delivering a high quality service to all Pharmacy customers. The innovative use of IT is important to us, and we are continually looking for new opportunities. We have robotic dispensing, bar-coded prescription tracking, electronic prescribing and discharge systems. The department is friendly and supportive, operating within a modern environment having gone through a full refurbishment in winter 2017.

This position would suit someone with a keen eye for detail and who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including other healthcare professionals and members of the public. You will be a good team player, enthusiastic and proactive with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Main duties of the job:

• Dispensing inpatient and outpatient prescriptions and discharge medication.
• Meeting and greeting people at the reception hatch and accepting outpatient prescriptions and taking prescription charges.
• Stock control and associated tasks relating to stock management.

The department is a 24 hour department and the core hours for the dispensary are 9.00am until 9.00pm. This is a full time role; working hours are Monday to Friday 09:30am - 18:00pm. You will also be required to work weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to complete a GPhC-approved dispensary Level 2 course.

Person specification:

• GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English or proven equivalent level of experience and knowledge within the same or similar role.
• GPhC approved Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or willingness to work towards.

• Proven experience of working in a customer facing role, ideally within a hospital setting.
• Ability to use automated / electronic systems.
• Knowledge of pharmacy services.
• Demonstrates willingness to undertake relevant training pertinent to role.
• Previous experience of working in a Hospital pharmacy dispensary department.

• Demonstrates a problem solving approach, i.e. discrepancies in stock levels, incomplete prescription details.
• Ability to work towards deadlines and time management under supervision.
