The role is a key operational position within the Paediatric Waiting List Team, supporting the management of elective surgical pathways and ensuring patients receive timely treatment in line with RTT standards.

Main duties:

  • Proactive management of paediatric surgical waiting lists from decision to admit through to treatment.
  • Coordinating admissions, booking theatre dates and arranging pre‑operative assessments.
  • Co‑liaising with consultants, theatre teams and ward staff to support effective patient flow.
  • Monitoring waiting lists, identifying patients approaching RTT targets and escalating capacity issues.
  • Handling queries from patients, families and clinical teams professionally and efficiently.
  • Accurate data entry into Trust systems such as Lorenzo and ORMIS.

You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues, providing cross‑cover across specialities, and maintain service continuity.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE level (or equivalent), including English.
  • Demonstrable experience in an administrative or patient‑facing role.
  • Experience working within the NHS.
  • Understanding of the Patient Access Policy.
  • Experience in a supervisory or mentoring role.

Skills and abilities:

  • Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan and organise workload effectively.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
