We are looking to recruit an Outreach Dental Therapist to join our team at St Leonards Hospital in London. This is a part time role for 14 hours per week to be worked over Tuesdays and Fridays. The role is Band 6 AFC with the salary ranging from £39,959 - £48,117 +20% Inner London HCA, pro rata, per annum.
Main duties of the job:
- To deliver all aspects of Oral Health Promotion (OHP) programmes as required by the Service in line with service specifications.
- Oversee and provide a bespoke programme of evidence based oral health improvement interventions and training informed by national and local strategies across NE London to targeted groups.
- Work in tandem with and provide direct line supervision to Dental Therapist/s and Extended Duties Dental Nurse.
- Participate in epidemiology fieldwork.

Person specification:
Qualifications:
- Diploma/ Degree in Dental Therapy
- GDC Registered Dental Therapist plus specialist training & experience of specific client groups with multiple complex needs to master’s level equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Management or supervisory qualification / programme of study
Experience:
- Experience in area of practice
- Experience of co-ordinating the planning, delivery and evaluation of an intervention
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages
- Experience in community engagement and training group
- Experience of supervision and or management of a team
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Delivering Better Oral Health, The Toolkit, 3rd edition
- In depth understanding of the practices and principles of public health and oral health improvement
- Understanding of dental legislation and its application
- Thorough understanding of the importance of meeting CQC outcomes
- National and local oral health improvement strategy and policy
- Level 1 Stop Smoking interventional Training
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent presentation skills and able to create and deliver presentations
- IT skills to record the clinical procedures performed
