We are looking for a passionate individual, who has a keen interest in our patient groups and are willing to help the respiratory, sleep and NIV services continue to recover and grow from the implications that have come on the back of the global pandemic.

Main duties of the job:

  • Work in all aspects of lung function, sleep and NIV services, supporting diagnosis and, in some cases, initiating and reviewing the delivery of treatment.
  • Provide clinical support, data analysis, and interpretation of results to inform patient management.
  • Develop within the team, support training and have the opportunity to gain leadership skills.

Working for our organisation:

Our lung function services are busy dynamic services spread across two main acute hospital sites, comprising Nottingham University Hospitals. The trust supports over 12,000 patients receiving therapy for sleep apnea and other ventilation support. Under normal circumstances we perform more than 2,000 lung function investigations per year. You will be joining established teams within NUH who have recently become aligned under new leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc in Respiratory Physiology or equivalent
  • Evidence of attendance at BTS/ERS/ARTP conferences
  • ARTP parts 1 and 2
  • Experience of performing CPAP initiation and reviews
  • Experience of performing NIV initiation and reviews
  • Experience performing CPET testing
  • Ability to recognise acceptable respiratory physiological results from those caused by poor technique, effort or misunderstanding
  • Line management experience of junior respiratory / sleep physiologists
  • Experience at a band 6 physiologist level in respiratory and sleep / NIV
  • Experience in staff development and training

Requirements:

  • Good BSc in Physiology or equivalent, with willingness to gain ARTP practitioner qualifications in lung function and sleep.
  • Experience leading a team of junior sleep physiologists and interest in higher education and HSST program is desirable.
