An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to join the senior oncology nursing team on Hogarth Ward as a full time permanent/secondment Deputy Ward Manager. Hogarth provides inpatient adult oncology care and also a Day Case for the 17-25 year old patients receiving anti-cancer treatment. The Deputy Manager role will require the applicant to work in both of these roles with a particular focus on the Day Case.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Deputy Ward Manager.
- We will welcome any forward-thinking, caring individual with experience of leading a team who is committed to providing a high standard of safe quality patient care.
- The role requires excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with members of the public and the hospital multidisciplinary team.
- Recent experience in an acute environment and chemotherapy competency – ability to undertake cannulation and venepuncture – are essential.
- The Deputy Manager will also support staff and take an active role in band 6 management duties.
Person specification:
- Training and Qualifications: Teaching and Assessing Qualification or willingness to complete, Chemotherapy trained, Venepuncture and cannulation trained, Diploma/BSc.
- Experience: Recent experience in the specialty.
- Communication: Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Analytical and Judgement: Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care.
- Planning and Organisation: Evidence of ability to prioritise own workload and recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
