Job overview
To provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy Services to children with speech, language, and communication needs and their families within Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (Harrogate and Rural and Hambledon and Richmondshire areas).
Post holders will be based at Northallerton Child Development Centre with clinics at Thirsk Health Centre.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a collaborative team member of the HDFT Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Team within HDFT Specialist Children’s Services (SCS). This includes providing clinical support to Band 5 therapists as required and supervision to a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant as necessary.
1. To independently manage and provide a specialist SLT service for children with speech, language and communication needs within HDFT SCS. The children are aged 0 to 19 years. Caseload management is carried out independently.
2. To allocate clients, design therapy programmes and provide clinical support and supervision to a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.
3. To establish and maintain the quality of the Paediatric SLT service through working towards best practice and developing clinical governance alongside the Team Lead SLT.

Person specification
- Speech and Language Therapy graduate with membership of HCPC
- Relevant experience at post graduate level of working in school and pre-school settings (mainstream and special schools) and local authority Children Centres.
- Relevant experience of working with children with a range of SLCN.
- Driving licence and access to own transport
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Relevant experience of working with children with Dysphagia.
- Recent Paediatric SLT Training in Clinical Supervision.
- Knowledge and use of S1
