This is an exciting opportunity for someone to build and develop the administrative team to provide a brilliant service and support the General Surgery Department.
We are seeking a dynamic, well-organised, and pro-active administrator. You will need a working knowledge of all key Royal Cornwall Hospital IT systems and processes.
Main duties of the job
You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a good eye for detail and be a true team player. The ability to organise and prioritise work under pressure so as to meet strict deadlines is an essential feature of this job and ensure early escalation of any potential problems.

Person specification
Qualifications
- GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent.
- RSA 2/3 in medical audio typing or equivalent experience.
- ECDL
- NVQ in administration
- AMSPAR/City & Guilds Medical Secretary
Experience
- Previous NHS experience or similar healthcare background
- Use of electronic patient record systems such as the Patient Administration System (PAS) , Maxims
- Ability and expertise in managing own workload
- Experience of Galaxy and RADAR
- Knowledge of medical terminology and or booking experience
Skills/Knowledge
- Proven communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understanding of appointment systems.
- Knowledge of hospital activity
