The role of MDT Coordinator is to provide comprehensive, high quality and confidential administrative management for the Adnexal and Ocular Oncology Service to support and enable delivery of core objectives. This is a varied and demanding role that requires a ‘hands on’ approach and maximum interaction with clinicians, senior nurses and administration under the senior management team.
Main duties of the job:
- Providing high quality administrative and project support services to the service with particular responsibility for the facilitation and co-ordination of the multi-disciplinary (MDT) team meetings ensuring all reports are available as required.
- Leading on the analysis of team performance information and producing regular reports on the status of all patients on a Cancer Target pathway.
- Working alongside external Pathway Co-ordinators in managing an effective patient pathway for cancer patients from referral through to diagnosis and treatment ensuring the delivery of Cancer Waiting Time Targets.
- Leading on service improvement initiatives and quality control measures to assist in the delivery of efficient patient pathways and improve the quality of reporting.
- Embedding good working practices and supporting the clinical and administrative teams to provide a positive patient experience.
- Acting as a source of advice and support for troubleshooting difficult non-routine matters or resolving particularly sensitive or complex issues.
- Deputising for the Service Manager as appropriate when required.
To support proactive tracking of patients to ensure their pathway through the system is smooth and efficient and achieves appropriate targets. Potential breaches in target times must be clearly escalated in a timely way.
Education:
- Graduate level qualification or equivalent experience standard of education.
- Recognised computer literacy course (e.g. ECDL) or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Effective IT skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PAS/OE expertise.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: verbally, electronically and in writing.
- Demonstrate evidence of influencing and persuasion.
- Ability to manage conflicting and ever-changing priorities.
