Paediatric Dietician in Margate

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Dietitian to provide a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics service in the acute hospital setting to a caseload of in-patient paediatrics, associated clinics.

The highly Specialist Paediatric Dietitian is responsible for delivering day-to-day care for children, young people, their families and carers living with dietetic needs and will manage a designated clinical caseload of children and young people with dietetic requirements. The post holder will use clinical judgement and autonomous decision-making about the specialist nursing / AHP care and management of patients, undertaking a range of specialist clinical actions across a variety of settings following assessment of patients' needs and preferences.

They will provide expert and specialist paediatric dietetic advice, education, training and support to key partners within both the community and acute settings and work collaboratively and effectively with all other health care professionals, those allied to health and those in the third sector services. The post holder will work at an enhanced level of practice utilising highly developed post graduate experience, knowledge and skills in dietetic specialty. They will manage discrete aspects of a patient’s care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, within their current level of practice and patient group, aligned to the four pillars of practice and aligned to Trust policy.

Qualifications and Training

• Minimum 18 months post-graduate experience in general nutrition and dietetics
• Current HPCP registration
• Evidence of relevant post-graduate clinical education
• Degree relevant to professional registration and area of clinical practice
• Evidence of continuing professional development within dietetic chosen specialty
• Membership of a BDA Interest Group
• BDA Membership

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Significant postgraduate healthcare experience demonstrating professional development across the four pillars of practice
• Significant experience of care of the dietetic patient
• Experience of working with patients/service users to resolve concerns and improve their experience
• Evidence of effective networking or matrix working
• Experience of supervising staff and delivering training
• Experience of assessing patients and developing specialised programmes of care
• Experience of presenting to groups of staff/public

Governance

• Understanding of quality governance, patient safety and patient experience tools to support clinical practice and service improvement
• Sound knowledge and understanding of national policy and guidance
• Utilisation of clinical effectiveness tools to deliver quality improvement e.g. risk management and clinical audit
• Evidence of innovative practice utilising research and audit
• Experience of contributing to quality improvement in safety/quality improvement projects
• Experience of writing reports and presenting to teams or small groups
• Experience of implementing and evaluating improvements in care
