Job Overview
Lead Practitioner responsible for the clinical and managerial delivery across ten operating theatres, including specialised Vascular/Radiology Hybrid, Robotic and 24‑hour emergency services. The role requires extensive experience in a surgical theatre environment, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills.
Main Duties
- Collaborate with the Theatre Manager to provide clinical management, responsibility and leadership for all surgical theatres.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day activities, troubleshoot issues and work collaboratively with MDT to maximise service efficiency.
- Lead the theatre team and the department, fostering an enthusiastic, patient‑focused culture.
- Manage financial budgets, targets and cost savings in partnership with Divisional Finance and the Clinical Theatre Manager.
- Ensure compliance with national and local policies, infection control, audit collection and quality assurance; identify improvement pathways.
- Support staff development, mentoring students and staff members.

Qualifications
- Registered Practitioner (NMC or HCPC).
- Leadership qualification or actively working towards one.
Experience and Knowledge
- Significant clinical theatre experience.
- Senior level experience within a surgical theatre speciality.
- Wide range of scrub or anaesthetic experience.
- Experience mentoring students and staff.
Leadership
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead a team.
- Proactive, with knowledge of leadership styles and evidence of leadership traits.
- Experience in team working and team leadership.
