Job Title
Ward Administrator (Band 2)
Location and Hours
Whiston Hospital – part‑time (18.75 hours per week, 2 x 18.75 hrs, 1 x 16.5 hrs & 1 x 31 hrs available).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide front‑line administrative support to busy clinical wards.
- Act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors, offering a professional and welcoming service.
- Manage telephone enquiries and liaise with patients and relatives regarding admission, discharge and transfer.
- Book and request patient appointments and arrange discharges.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data quality compliance.
- Return and manage case notes and ward documentation.
- Record ward activity and appointments accurately in the PAS system.
- Deliver and collect patient and staff mail within the ward.
- Ensure adequate stationery is ordered and stored appropriately.
Qualifications & Experience
- Word‑processing skills and proficiency with MS Office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience of NHS or similar clerical duties (desirable).
Skills
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with patient systems.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Organised, reliable, and capable of prioritising workload.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of internal hospital PAS system.
