An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Neurosciences/ neurorehabilitation rotation. The successful candidate will join the existing rotation which includes: Neurorehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Stroke, Neurology, Neuro Outpatients and RAAR (rapid access acute rehabilitation). The rotations may be based at St George’s Hospital or at the Wolfson at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton.

Main duties of the job

This post is 0.5WTE part time Job Share with an existing Post holder.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership to and work as part of a dynamic and highly regarded Neurosciences Physiotherapy team providing a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice to people with neurological related conditions within St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

St George’s is a teaching hospital and applicants will need to be able to take a lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of junior Physiotherapists, assistant staff, students and MDT staff in the therapeutic care of patients with neurosurgical and neurological conditions.

It is essential that you have post-registration experience, which must include the clinical area of neurology and some NHS experience (which may have been as an undergraduate or in a locum capacity). Excellent communication and leadership skills are also essential.

As a department we will encourage and support you in pursuing audit, project work and/ or research. We offer regular supervision, individual performance review, CPD and support and development groups for all grades. As a service we are committed to evidence based practice and are actively involved in Clinical Governance initiatives. Attendance at relevant postgraduate training is negotiable.

The post holder will join the Neurosciences Rotations which last for 18 months in each service. This post will rotate alongside the existing post holder at 0.5WTE as part of a job share.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
• HCPC Registration
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field
• Masters Degree or evidence of working at an equivalent level
• Recognised post-graduate qualification e.g. MSc in Rehabilitation
• Membership of Special Interest Group eg ACPIN
• Leadership Training
• Post-graduate course in management

Experience

• Experience of undertaking clinical audit
• Worked in neurosciences in the NHS at senior level.
• Broad experience at Band 6 level in Neurosciences with specialist experience in neurorehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery
• Broad range of experience at junior and Band 6 level including respiratory, musculoskeletal and neurology
• Participation in out of hours working
• Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of neurological patients demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
• Experience of managing other physiotherapy staff
• Experience of teaching in a clinical setting
• Experience of student supervision/ clinical education
• Experience of multidisciplinary team working
