We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Administrator to provide efficient, confidential and high‑quality secretarial support to the Acute/Neurology Neonatal Clinical Team.
Job overview:
- Full‑time position (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
- You will manage consultants' correspondence, audio typing, patient queries, and liaise with parents, relatives, general practitioners and other hospital staff.
- The role reports to the Administration Lead and is part of the wider Administrative Team.
Main duties of the job:
- You will be responsible for managing consultants’ correspondence, audio typing, handling patient queries, liaising with healthcare professionals, booking appointments, checking outcomes, and managing vacant slots.
Key skills and experience required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent command of English, punctuation and grammar.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong IT skills for efficient use of hospital computer systems.
- Accurate and proficient audio typing skills.
- A professional and confident telephone manner.
- Excellent organisational skills – prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and teamwork.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Sound judgment and initiative for independent task handling.
Qualifications:
- GCSE grade 4 or above in literacy and numeracy.
- Proficient in NHS systems such as TRAK, Sunrise, Infoflex.
- Experience in typing/word processing and data entry.
- Experience in medical secretary or hospital office roles (desirable).
Experience:
- Previous experience in a busy office.
- Experience dealing with members of the public.

- Knowledge of health and safety, risk management and data protection.
