Job Overview

The StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust is seeking enthusiastic Anaesthetic Nurse / Operating Department Practitioners to join our pool of staff bank workers. Roles are full‑time and will be confirmed during the hiring process.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled assistance to clinicians and other members of the theatre team.
  • Deliver support and care to required standards as directed within the specific clinical area.
  • Provide a service to all areas of the Trust where equipment or techniques are used and practiced.
  • Respond positively to unplanned activities outside normal routines.
  • Plan work in advance to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain 2 of the 3 specialties within the theatre environment and rotate between them.
  • Communicate professionally at all times using appropriate mechanisms.
  • Complete routine documents clearly and accurately according to local policy.
  • Attend appropriate meetings and contribute by discussing, questioning and checking for mutual understanding.
  • Seek additional information about a situation beyond what has been given.
  • Show sensitivity and understanding when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Assist team in gathering basic information and measuring service delivery.
  • Actively seek to understand proposed service improvements and required changes.
  • Exercise accountability and professionalism in practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients, staff and relatives at all times.
  • Be aware of policies relating to the Data Protection Act.
  • Ensure Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Accept responsibility and/or demonstrate initiative within own work areas.
  • Advise and guide others on established operating procedures.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Minimum 6 months experience.
  • RGN Level 1 / RODP Basic Life Support Course.

Professional Registration

  • Registered as a professional nurse (RGN or equivalent).
