Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated sonographer to undertake a band 8a role which will allow the right candidate to expand their knowledge and skills in day to day management of an ultrasound department, and enable them to make a real difference and improvements for all staff. Includes 15% Retention and recruitment allowance.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage one of the Imaging Modality services of the Community Diagnostic Centre and Ealing Hospital Ultrasound Departments on a day-to-day basis, including training of other radiographers and students.
  • Line management responsibilities and assist in the day-to-day running of the Radiology Department.
  • Coordinate and meet waiting targets relevant to the area where reasonable.
  • Lead on issues relating to clinical governance and equipment maintenance for the modality.
  • Undertake clinical work and maintain high standards of work for own and other staff members.
  • Deputise and provide support for the Clinical Lead Sonographer.
  • Maintain and supervise waiting list targets for the modality.

Person specification

  • BSc or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, 2:1 or higher.
  • Extensive experience of the modality concerned – at least 2 years post qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, QSI standards and system administrator duties.
  • Certificate of obstetric qualifications up to date.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).

Skills and attributes

  • Experience in a wide range of US procedures including Obstetrics, Gynae, Abdominal, DVT.
