The Derby Lymphovascular Medicine Service invites applications for a Clinical Specialist Lymphoedema Therapist to support multidisciplinary clinics at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, Long Eaton Health Centre and Kings Mill Hospital. The role involves assessment, treatment planning, delivery of intensive lymphoedema management including multi‑layer bandaging, and evaluation of patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and manage new and existing patients with lymphoedema, vascular and lymphatic malformations, segmental overgrowth and lipoedema.
- Develop, implement and evaluate individualized treatment plans in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Deliver intensive treatment courses, including compression garment application and multi‑layer lymphoedema bandaging.
- Provide ongoing education and support to patients and carers.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service quality improvement.
Qualifications and competencies
- Registered Nurse, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with appropriate UK professional registration.
- Basic understanding of lymphoedema and its management; previous bandaging and wound care experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex or sensitive information effectively.
- Strong organisational abilities, able to manage and prioritise workload.
- Analytical skills to interpret complex information and make evidence‑based clinical decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external partners.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to NHS standards of practice.
