Job overview: We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic nurse with a passion for cardiology to join our committed team on the Acute Cardiac Unit in the Specialist Medicine Division. ACU is a 27-bedded Cardiac Unit. Should you be successful, you will work within a specialised area, providing high quality care to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions including heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, valve disease and endocarditis.

Main duties of the job:

  • To set and maintain high standards of nursing practice ensuring patients' needs are met.
  • To work effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
  • To participate in ward rounds, ensuring effective methods of communication.
  • To contribute to an effective learning environment and participate in own continual professional development.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route; however, sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25,000), and any role-specific criteria.

  • To practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) code of conduct.
  • To be accountable for own professional practice.
  • Be aware of current research.
  • Always maintain a high level of patient care.
  • When required, to liaise and work collaboratively with other specialities to ensure the consistent management of patients.
  • Provide individualised education and psychological support to patients and their relatives.
  • Ensure that privacy and dignity of patients is maintained when providing nursing care.
  • Provide life support to standards set by the UK Resuscitation Council.
  • Engage in the Trust Friends and Family Test.
  • Support discharge planning and patient flow.
  • Use advanced skills to assess, develop and evaluate plans of care for patients with cardiology needs.

Person specification:

Experience:
  • NMC PIN
  • Experience working in an acute hospital setting or the ability to utilise pre-registration experience to demonstrate an understanding of the relevant settings.
  • Evidence of working in cardiology.
  • Experience of working in a Level 2/3 patient care setting.
Skills:
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Administration of medications and/or treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines and Trust Policy.
  • Ability to write clear and succinct reports.
  • ECG training, IV administration, venepuncture, cannulation.
