We have an exciting opportunity in Stroke Division for both Hatherley Ward which is the Hyper Acute stroke Unit and Woodmancote which is the Rehabilitation ward. We are looking for Health Care Support Workers that are passionate about the Stroke. You will be working in Stroke Division for both Hatherley (HASU) and Woodmancoate Ward (Rehab) in Cheltenham General Hospital delivering exceptional care for Stroke patients.
Main duties of the job:
- To provide high quality nursing care whilst working within limitations of the role and understanding how to escalate when required.
- To work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain and develop high standards of care.
- Work proactively to ensure that all patients' expectations and needs are met within a timely manner.
- Respond to emergency situations with composure, maintaining patient safety and seeking immediate support whilst supporting the patient, family and other staff as required.
- The ability to maintain clear, accurate and concise patient records in keeping with departmental and professional standards.
- Report near misses and untoward incidents, complaints, emergencies, injury or medication efforts via the trust reporting system and assist lead staff in investigating as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities:

- Take on responsibility for personal development and support the development of others.
- In conjunction with line management identify training needs.
- Be actively involved in and support the departments education programme.
- Consolidate and learn new skills and competencies to provide holistic care.
- Undertake all mandatory training and specified training for your role as HCSW.
Communications and Working Relationships:
- The ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives as well as other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain good professional working relationship with the team and Multidisciplinary Team.
Qualifications and Training:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English Grade 4 or above.
- Evidence of a completed care certificate.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic IT skills.
Clinical Experience:
- Experience in any form in Health Care Setting.
- Previous experience as HCSW within a relevant specialty.
