Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population. Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust.

We are looking for Estates Maintenance Assistants to join our team to support with the undertaking of maintenance, improvement, and minor capital works on all facilities across the Trust on a range of estate buildings and fabric whilst ensuring that they are always compliant with all Trust and Statutory standards and procedures. So, if you are a suitably qualified Building General Handyman with relevant practical experience or equivalent, we would love to hear from you today!

Main duties of the job:

  • Undertake general housekeeping duties to ensure an acceptable level of workshop and plant room cleanliness.
  • Carry out the flushing of little used water outlets and replace shower hoses and heads as instructed, producing and maintaining the necessary written records identifying checks carried out.
  • Plan your own work schedule and undertake minor repairs and maintenance, unsupervised across the site, which typically may include, but not be limited to:

  • Ductwork and Grille cleaning
  • Vent Cleaning
  • Filter changing
  • Lamp changing
  • Lamp cleaning
  • Battery condition checking
  • Meter reading
  • Emergency lighting testing
  • Workshop and plant room cleanliness duties
  • Assisting with and carrying out store person duties as required

Person specification:

  • An approved apprenticeship in a building discipline (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds qualification as a minimum to a minimum of level 2 (or equivalent).
  • Relevant experience post apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, current Electrical services legislation.
  • Experience of working within a building services team.
  • Experience of working within building services team within the NHS.
