Location: Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, Birmingham

Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (weekends and bank holiday on rota basis)

Salary: £28,392 – £31,157 pro rata per annum

Job Overview

We are looking for a hardworking Ward Based Technician who can deliver high quality pharmacy services to patients and wards.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Pharmacy Technician in managing wards and prioritising workload including drug history taking and medicines reconciliation.
  • Participate in audits and liaise with other staff.
  • Use automated dispensing cabinets and the Electronic Patient Record system (EPR).
  • Contribute to the ACT rota and the end‑of‑day dispensary process.
  • Deliver high quality care and support overall success of the team.
  • Work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis, including 7‑day working.

Person Specification – Experience

  • Experience using a pharmacy computer based stock control and dispensing system.
  • Evidence of working as a Pharmacy Technician or Preregistration Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or community setting.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of medicines and safety issues.
  • Experience in safe handling of pharmaceutical equipment and medicines.
  • Experience with prescription tracking system.
  • Contribution to education of less experienced staff, students or assistants.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with CMM/JAC dispensing and stock control systems.
  • Experience with EPR / EPMA systems.
  • Experience with automation systems.

Person Specification – Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 & BTec certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Pharmacy Technician registration with the GPhC.
  • Evidence of dispensing accuracy and willingness to repeat as required.
  • Willingness to attain National Technician Checking Accreditation.

Additional Requirements

  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 with a DBS submission required.
