A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self‑motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy service within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Our Musculoskeletal Service is a busy and forward thinking provider of Community Outpatient Physiotherapy across 17 clinic sites in Birmingham serving a diverse population. We receive referrals for acute and chronic conditions from GPs, ACPs and self referrals. The Service includes core MSK Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Triage and Pain Management.

We are looking for a suitably qualified Physiotherapist to join our friendly and innovative team. Evidence of extensive post graduate experience of working in an Outpatient Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy environment is essential and previous NHS experience is desirable.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Providing first class assessment & treatment to people with a variety of MSK disorders.
  • Demonstrating up to date knowledge & evidence of CPD in MSK Physiotherapy.
  • Leading and contributing to our comprehensive IST programme & clinical interest groups.
  • Managing your own patient caseload within a supportive & experienced team.
  • Supervising Band 5 & 6 Physiotherapists, Assistants & students.
  • Supporting the clinical triage of referrals.
  • Demonstrating experience of leadership within a clinic team.

You will usually be timetabled to work out of a maximum of two different clinics over your working week. Operating hours are from 7am to 7pm in some clinics across the city and there may be the opportunity for flexible working.

Working for our organisation involves being part of a friendly team striving to work in an evidence-based practice. You will have a designated mentor (at 8a level) to help with your development. Monthly meetings with clinicians will focus on specific projects related to developing our Service.

You will have your own CPD time for personal development such as peer sessions with other clinicians, shadowing of the Orthopaedic Triage or Pain Management Service or attending courses. Course funding may be available subject to service requirements.

Each clinic is made up of a variety of clinical banding levels, providing opportunities to develop your leadership skills by supervising more junior members of staff.

We are a research-active MSK service and have been clinical sites for trials such as BOOST & GRASP.

To provide a comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service for adult patients referred for assessment/treatment within the Trust, you will play an active part in the MSK Service providing team leadership and support, participating in service based initiatives and activities, including the supervision, training and teaching of junior staff, students and assistants.

Qualifications / training required include:

  • Diploma/degree in physiotherapy.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience required includes:

  • Substantial Clinical Post Graduate Experience.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff and students.
  • Extensive experience of working in Musculo‑Skeletal out‑patients setting.
  • Experience of Clinical Leadership.
  • Experience of working in the NHS.

Skills/knowledge required include:

  • Evidence of post grad training and/or experience to masters level in MSK.
  • Evidence of up to date clinical practice/CPD.
  • Advanced communication skills written and verbal.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Team player.
  • Keen to enhance professional development.
