Would you like to work in a dynamic MSK Physiotherapy Service with exciting career development opportunities and the added benefit of being in the vibrant city of Birmingham? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self-motivated Band 5 Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Service within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The Service includes core MSK Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Triage and Pain Management. We provide specialist MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy to the diverse local communities across 18 clinic sites. We accept referrals from GPs, ACPs and Allied Health Professionals, as well as patient self-referrals.
We are looking for a qualified Physiotherapist to join our friendly and innovative team. Evidence of experience of working in an Outpatient Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy environment is essential and previous NHS experience is desirable.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about providing first class assessment & treatment to people with a variety of chronic and acute MSK disorders. You should be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge & evidence of CPD in MSK Physiotherapy & be prepared to contribute to our comprehensive IST programme & clinical interest groups. You will be responsible for managing your own patient caseload within a supportive & experienced team and it is likely that you will supervise students. There will be the opportunity to initiate, lead on & contribute to service development initiatives and be involved in regular audits. You will usually be timetabled to work out of a maximum of two different clinics over your working week. We will take into account any requests to work in a certain geographical location however, you may be required to move base as service demands alter. Operating hours are from 7am to 7pm in some clinics across the city and there may be the opportunity for flexible working.
Working for our organisationWe are a friendly team striving to work in an evidence-based practice & we aim to support your learning needs throughout. You will have a designated mentor (at band 6) with whom you can meet with on a monthly basis to help with your development. As a wider MSK service, we meet in groups of clinicians (comprising of band 3-8b) on a monthly basis to work on a specific project related to developing our Service. These monthly meetings are also used for IST & to discuss complex case scenarios. You will have your own CPD time to be used for personal development such as peer sessions with other clinicians, shadowing of the Orthopaedic Triage or Pain Management Service or attending courses. Course funding may be available subject to service requirements. You will also have the opportunity to participate in service development such as clinical audit, overseeing the running of classes & project based initiatives. For your own development, you will also have access to Advanced Clinical Practitioners & Consultant Physiotherapists. We are a research-active MSK service & have been clinical sites for trials such as BOOST, TEMPO, PANDA & GRASP.
Person specification- Qualifications / training: Diploma/degree in physiotherapy, Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Experience: Placement or experience within Musculoskeletal Outpatients / Orthopaedics, Placement or experience working in Neuro / Rehab and Respiratory, Evidence of working within the NHS
- Skills/knowledge: Good communication skills both written and verbal, Experience of working in a team, Evidence of relevant and up to date CPD, Ability to prioritise workload and work independently, Committed to further learning and development, Must be reliable, flexible and self motivated in approach to duties, UK Driving Licence or equivalent & access to a car
In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship. DBS CostsPlease be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
