Location: Split between York (term time) and Huggate , Yorkshire Wolds (school holidays)
Working Hours: 30 hours per week over 5 days (Monday to Friday)

Happy Nest Nanny & Maternity Agency is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a lovely family seeking a professional, self-motivated, and experienced housekeeper to support the running of their two family homes. The role is primarily based in York during school term time and shifts to their countryside residence in Huggate, during the school holidays.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and experienced housekeeper who enjoys working independently, managing a busy household, and ensuring a well-organised and welcoming home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the familys needs across both properties, with a strong emphasis on household organisation and meal preparation for the children. While the home is child-friendly, there are no direct childcare duties required.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Household management and organisation across both family homes
  • Managing supplies and stock: ordering groceries, cleaning products, and general household items
  • Overseeing online food orders and maintaining well-stocked cupboards
  • Laundry and ironing, ensuring family clothing is cleaned, folded, and stored properly
  • General tidying and cleaning to maintain high standards throughout the home
  • Batch cooking healthy and nutritious meals for the children only
  • Supporting smooth transitions between properties during school holidays and term time
  • Ensuring both homes are prepared and maintained for daily family life

Candidate Requirements:

We are seeking a professional and experienced individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years\’ professional housekeeping experience within a private household
  • Excellent, checkable references from previous private household roles
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • A proactive and reliable attitude with a keen eye for detail
  • Respectful of family privacy and confident working discreetly
  • Experience preparing family-style meals, with a focus on batch cooking for children
  • A full UK driving licence and own car essential due to location
  • Enhanced DBS certificate required (can be processed through Happy Nest if needed)

Location and Working Hours:

  • Based primarily in York during school term time
  • Based in Huggate during school holidays (a rural, countryside location)
  • 30 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday
