Our successful SEO team is integral to our publishing operations, focusing on driving search traffic, expanding audiences, and fostering reader engagement and loyalty.

Your Role:

As Deputy Head of SEO, you will support the Head of SEO in developing and executing the editorial SEO strategy and lead our team of SEO editors and writers in London. You will contribute to The Sun’s digital growth through technical and content SEO, utilising SEO tools, data-driven projects, and strategies for organic search, Discover, and Google News.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance organic search, Discover, and Google News visibility
  • Identify search trends and communicate insights to the newsroom
  • Lead and manage a team of SEO editors and reporters
  • Drive SEO strategies for breaking news and live blogs
  • Oversee evergreen content strategies
  • Utilise SEO tools such as SEMrush and News Dashboard
  • Analyze and report SEO performance to the newsroom
  • Coordinate with departments to meet SEO objectives
  • Ensure adherence to SEO best practices through training and monitoring
  • Monitor algorithm updates and advise relevant teams
  • Perform competitor analysis and identify growth opportunities
  • Coordinate content plans around major events like Love Island
  • Support content migrations and post-migration analysis
  • Stay updated on SEO trends and news

  • Organized problem-solver with creative, adaptive approaches

Work Environment:

We operate a hybrid working policy with at least three days in the office weekly to promote collaboration and innovation. Some roles may require more office presence depending on specific job needs.
