The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Business Services Department as a Transcriber.
The Transcription Unit are seeking to appoint an individual who will be able to provide a comprehensive transcribing and word processing service, who is able to produce well presented documents, accurate text tables and file management. They must have a keen desire to deliver an effective customer service and satisfaction. Candidates must have RSA II or equivalent experience. A small typing test will be given as part of the interview process.
What you’ll do
Transcribe Sensitive Audio Content: Accurately transcribe audio recordings including Achieving Best Evidence interviews, emergency calls, Body Worn Video footage, and other materials related to serious incidents and investigations.
Produce Legal and Investigative Documents: Create well-formatted documents such as witness statements and interview transcripts for use in Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court, and internal investigations.
Ensure Compliance and Quality Standards: Review recorded interviews and transcriptions to ensure alignment with Force policies, procedures, and PACE guidelines, maintaining a consistently high standard.
Provide Customer-Focused Support: Handle enquiries professionally, redirecting or escalating as needed to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
Maintain Equipment and Technical Functionality: Identify and report equipment faults or maintenance needs to ensure uninterrupted transcription services.
What you’ll bring
RSA II / OCR or equivalent experience
Experience of working in a transcription unit or typing environment
Ability to use judgement, initiative and creativity, to resolve situations and provide positive solutions
Ability to type and format documents to appropriate standards
Possess the ability to work in isolation and as part of a team.
Demonstrate a professional and proactive approach to customer service
