12 month contract /hybrid 2 days in London office

My blue chip client are looking for an experienced and dynamic business development person to push card acceptance through direct approach to merchants. The Company has a target of UK merchants they want to onboard. Verticals include airline, hotel, restaurant, travel, entertainment and transport.
To be successful, you will have payments industry experience (ideally with cards) along with a good understanding of the payments eco-system and a strong understanding of merchants and acquirers.
You will build and maintain a robust pipeline of new sales opportunities, engagement with merchants to drive company acceptance take-up, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure the sales cycle is completed & is delivering key KPI’s in acceptance.
You will actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Identify leads, develop proposals, respond to RFPs and negotiate agreements direct to UK merchants, to maximize network acceptance. You must have strong negotiation skills to close deals.
- Strategically identify and create innovative business cases to win new merchant acceptance deals with internal stakeholder buy-in (Pricing, Risk, AML, etc.).
- Collaborate with internal teams and gather feedback from customers or prospects to identify, develop, and implement new sales opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships to maintain and grow account relationships with internal and external partners to meet volume and revenue goals.
- Participate in industry exhibitions and conferences.
Qualifications
- Payments industry experience (ideally with cards).
- Good understanding of the payments ecosystem and a strong understanding of merchants and acquirers.
- Experience in selling card acceptance and merchant onboarding.
