WWT is looking for an experienced Automation Consultant/Engineer to lead client-facing automation engagements, designing and delivering scalable, long-term automation solutions across infrastructure and networking environments. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, drive best practices, and ensure high-quality execution from strategy through implementation.
This is a contract role inside IR35.
Contract Duration: 6 months contract
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week)
Key responsibilities:
- Understand client needs, short and long term, and design automation solutions that serve both.
- Shape differentiated solutions that solve real client problems more effectively than competing approaches.
- Manage client data and context with discipline, to drive better experiences and stronger growth.
- Lead client automation engagements: strategy, enablement, and execution, from kickoff to handover.
- Provide technical leadership to the project team across architecture, development, testing, and production migration.
- Define automation architectures that are simple, effective, and built to last beyond your engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement within the practice through development, collaboration, and mentorship.
- Establish and enforce spec-driven development: write acceptance criteria before code, validate implementations against the spec.
- Champion infrastructure-as-code patterns: if it is not in Git, it does not exist.
- Embed pre- and post-change validation into every CI/CD pipeline: right-first-time is the goal, not the exception.
- Apply block/rescue/always and atomic-change patterns so rollback is a first-class path, never an afterthought.
