Theatre Anaesthetics and Recovery Practitioner in Wigan

Theatre Practitioner (Anaesthetics and Recovery) post is for 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday between 8 am - 7 pm internal rotation within theatres. There is an opportunity available at Wrightington Hospital (Centre of Excellence) for you to join a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary team delivering quality patient centred care and patient safety throughout the patient pathway. We are seeking to appoint a Registered Operating Department Practitioner/Registered Nurse with experience working within the theatre environment and have the ambition and desire to further develop your skills.

Main duties of the job:

• Acting as a catalyst in questioning expert professional knowledge within the team influencing application of theory in practice.
• Identifying, maintaining, evaluating and improving the quality of care through application of evidence based practice within the clinical area.
• Developing sound clinical skills and competency within their defined field working without direct supervision to ensure the application of professional standards in all aspects of care delivery within the clinical environment.
• Demonstrating awareness of the appropriateness of transferable skills when providing individualised high quality patient care.

Person specification:

• Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
• Knowledge of evidence based practice.
• Understanding of research/audit.
• Sound understanding of role and responsibilities relating to SFA duties.

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain and improve standards of care.
• Participation in research/audit.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Specialist clinical skills within appropriate field.
• Evidence of undertaken research/audit.

• Demonstrate ability as professional role model.
• Experience of working on own and as a member of a team.
• Working knowledge of theatres.
• Experience in the application of SFA duties.

• RN / ODP DPSN NMC/HCPC registration.
• Recognised multi-professional mentorship qualification or NMC Practice Supervisor/Assessor training (or willingness to work towards this).
• Evidence of post-registration academic or clinical modules.
• Nationally recognised Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification, or equivalent.

• Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation.
