We are looking to recruit a Senior Health Care Support Worker. We are looking for motivated and caring Healthcare Support Workers to join a dedicated Paediatric Team in our Paediatric Outpatient department. You will have excellent communication skills and the flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Children and their Families whilst maintaining a safe environment. You will be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care to patients in a busy and fast paced area. You will work as part of a team to provide high quality, safe and child centred care. The successful candidate will be efficient, reliable, and able to work using their own initiative whilst being part of a team. You will be dedicated to assisting in the delivery and the development of an excellent service.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
- Provide a range of personal care for patients, including washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
- Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.
- Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
- Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.
- Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.
- Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well-being or any possible risks.
- Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, fluid checks as directed.
- Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
- Assist with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.
- Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.
- Undertake phlebotomy on children of a variety of ages, with appropriate training.
- Contribute in the role of QB tester on a rotational basis.
- Work across over 6 sites within the Wigan and Leigh area.
- Senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
