An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the well established and dynamic Occupational Therapy Team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Rotational Occupational Therapist. Rotations can include, but are not limited to, Community Therapy, Intermediate Care, Paediatrics, Learning Disabilities, Orthopaedics and Acute therapies. Some rotations are Monday to Sunday and some will require access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.

On each rotation the post holder will be supported by passionate and experienced team members who will help guide and support your individual learning needs and ensure that the best standards of care are provided. You must be a registered Occupational Therapist but we will consider students in their final year.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide a high standard occupational therapy service to patients within the rotation.
  • Act as a source of knowledge on the management of current caseloads and provide an advisory service to patients, relatives, other healthcare professionals and students.
  • Take a role in the assessment and treatment of patients within the rotation, provide occupational therapy treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with direct supervision.
  • Assist teams in planning, co‑ordination, delivering and evaluating the therapy services provided within the rotation.
  • Participate in the education and training of occupational therapists, other health professionals and OT students in the management of OT conditions as appropriate in the respective rotation.

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support therapy assistants to do likewise.
