Main duties of the job:
- Provide a varied clinical skill mix within obstetrics, gynecology (transvaginal), general medical scans, and MSK. For obstetrics, a DQASS sonographer code is essential.
- Participate in regular clinical governance, audit and mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent ultrasound examinations, interpret images, produce reports, and ensure optimum patient experience.
- Participate in the training of multi-disciplinary staff groups.
- Check, vet and prioritise ultrasound requests.
- Seek ways to improve standards and performance – including audit and peer review.
- Assist in biopsy and other interventional procedures where required.
- Vetting/preparing referrals and maintaining quality control procedures.
- Flexible to changes in service demands; manage own and radiologist workload.
- Maintain equipment testing records (QA, post-installation) and participate in machine service & repair planning.
- Facilitate machine demonstrations, coordinate choice and purchase of ultrasound equipment.
- Participate in meetings, CPD, audit and departmental committees.
- Maintain accurate patient and departmental records in the Radiology Information System (CRIS) and PACS.
- Safeguard confidentiality, research and development activities such as post-graduate studies.
- Support department induction and supervise staff performance.
- Attend mandatory health & safety training, move-and-handling sessions, and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Support interventional procedures and contribute to quality assurance measures.

Qualifications:
- CASE accredited ultrasound course – Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (DMU, Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma).
- Membership of HCPC.
Experience:
- Recent ultrasound scanning and reporting experience in obstetric, medical or gynecological examinations.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team.
