Due to progression, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated qualified nurses to join our District Nursing teams across the Ashton, Wigan and Leigh Borough.

We offer a structured preceptorship supported by our Education team for all new starters and a robust competency framework. Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop and progress within their role.

30 hours – Monday to Sunday working pattern. There may be some scope for more or fewer hours than this.

These posts are only suitable for NMC registered nurses. We are unable to consider students for these posts at this time.

As the role involves visiting patient homes & clinics across the Trust every day, postholders must state in their application if they have access to a car with suitable business insurance. If you do not mention this in your application, you will not be considered for the post.

Please note: Part time posts do not meet the minimum salary threshold required for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. Main duties of the job

  • You will have a variety of clinical skills and be able to demonstrate continued professional development and qualified as a registered nurse. You will have highly developed communication and personal skills.
  • You will need to be able to travel independently across the Trust.
  • Enhanced DBS with Adults\’ Barred List check will be obtained during pre-employment checks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key results from the job holder

  • To undertake the delivery of evidence based nursing care as delegated by the District Nurse Coordinator/Team Leader.
  • To undertake skilled clinical nursing procedures and provide clinical advice.
  • To provide nursing care and support for patients with complex and continuing health care needs.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care according to the District Nurse assessment criteria.
  • To inform the District Nurse Coordinator/Team Leader of changes in the patient’s condition.
  • To ensure appropriate delivery of care via referrals to other agencies.
  • To identify and access sources of expert, professional knowledge to positively influence patient care.
  • To support the District Nurse Coordinator/Team Leader in ensuring that the District Nurse Team works collaboratively and cooperatively with clinical colleagues.
  • To participate in research and audit activity as a requirement of practice.
